More than 100 U.S. federal workers sued Musk and DOGE, demanding data access be cut off

Odaily Planet Daily News According to a new federal lawsuit filed on Tuesday, more than 100 current and former federal workers have sued Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) he leads, accusing them of accessing highly sensitive personnel records without proper review or authorization. The lawsuit was filed in the Southern District of New York by 104 workers and various unions representing government workers. The plaintiffs asked the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the government's main human resources agency, to cut off access to DOGE and its agents. The indictment lists Musk, DOGE, OPM and current OPM Director Charles Ezell as defendants. The lawsuit alleges that DOGE's access to OPM records violated the Privacy Act, which prohibits improper access to personal data, including across federal agencies. It points out that DOGE's agents were not government employees when they gained access to OPM's computer network. The lawsuit mentions Edward Coristine, a 19-year-old DOGE employee who reportedly goes by the nickname "Big Balls" on the Internet and was fired at a cybersecurity company for an internal investigation into data leaks during his tenure.
