According to Odaily, Aisen Nikolaev, Chairman of the Russian State Council's Energy Committee and President of the Sakha Republic, has proposed the establishment of dedicated power stations to serve a clientele composed exclusively of cryptocurrency miners. The energy team of the committee advises the presidential office on energy policy matters. Nikolaev stated that the State Council's Energy Committee has been in discussions with the Ministry of Energy regarding cryptocurrency mining. He suggested that if any region can establish a separate power plant specifically for cryptocurrency mining without connecting to the public grid, such a solution could be considered.
Nikolaev expressed confidence that in the near future, innovators will introduce solutions that will allow Moscow to develop its cryptocurrency mining industry while safeguarding public interests. He noted that in some regions of Russia, electricity usage for mining has become "uncontrolled," leading to capacity shortages and a decline in the quality of power supply for households and businesses.
