Odaily Planet Daily News Cryptocurrency market maker Wintermute Trading Ltd. is considering expanding its business to the United States, including opening an office in New York and offering new products in the U.S. Wintermute is one of the largest liquidity providers in the digital asset market and already has offices in London and Singapore. CEO Evgeny Gaevoy described the company's growth plans and "new focus on the United States" in an interview during the Consensus conference in Hong Kong. Gaevoy said that as part of the expansion plan, the company plans to provide OTC products to U.S. customers and add about 5 to 10 people to the existing team of 130. Wintermute recently raised funds in a round of financing led by Tencent Holdings Ltd., according to people familiar with the matter. Neither Tencent nor Wintermute responded to requests for comment on this round of financing. The company previously completed a $20 million Series B financing led by Lightspeed Ventures in January 2021, with participation from Pantera Capital and Hack VC. (Bloomberg)
