Odaily Planet Daily News Binance responded to "hackers stealing coins by sending red envelopes" and said: "Based on the existing investigation results and the information we have, we initially suspect that the user's device may have installed malicious plug-ins/software, which led to the hacker stealing the user's email, Google authenticator, Binance account and other account information. Based on this, the hacker simulated the user's common devices and IP environment, so the verification links in the red envelope initiation process were successfully passed by the hacker, which eventually led to the theft of funds.
It should be noted that when users send red envelopes for payment on the Binance platform, they need to verify the user's payment PIN code/fingerprint or face ID/authenticator App/email. Therefore, the reason why the user's account assets were stolen through the red envelope function was due to the theft of the above-mentioned relevant personal information. It is strongly recommended that the user choose to call the police to handle this incident. The Binance security risk control team will assist in providing all the information we have, and on the basis of obtaining the user's cooperation, further investigate their devices to jointly find out the final cause. It also reminds all users to always be vigilant, improve safety awareness, and be sure to use safe and clean equipment. Pay attention to prevent security risks of accounts and devices to ensure the safety of personal assets.
