Odaily Planet Daily News SlowMist Security Team issued a security alert, warning that social engineering attacks with malware have surged again recently. Hackers trick victims into downloading malicious scripts through fake video call links to steal sensitive information.
In the latest case, the attacker first hacked into the Telegram account of the victim's friend, and then used the account to initiate a fake video call to reduce the target's vigilance. The SlowMist team reminds users that if they are attacked, they should take the following measures immediately:
1: Protect assets: If the wallet private key/mnemonic phrase has been stored on the computer, the funds should be transferred as soon as possible.
2: Change password & 2FA: Update Telegram, X, email, exchange and other accounts immediately, and check for abnormal login records.
3: Run full disk antivirus: Use well-known antivirus software such as AVG, Bitdefender, Kaspersky, etc. to scan the system.
4: Reset the system (if necessary): Back up important files, reinstall the system and ensure that the virus has been thoroughly checked before recovery.
Users should be vigilant and avoid clicking on unknown video call links to ensure the safety of their assets.
