Odaily Planet Daily News: Derivatives trading giant CME Group announced a partnership with Google Cloud to use its Universal Ledger to explore tokenization technology, aiming to improve the efficiency of the capital market. The parties plan to start direct testing with market participants this year and expect to launch the new service in 2026, according to the news release. CME will use Google Cloud’s private programmable network to test how digital asset infrastructure can optimize settlement and clearing processes. The move reflects the growing trend of traditional financial companies adopting blockchain technology to achieve efficient settlement around the clock. Terry Duffy, chairman and CEO of CME Group, said the collaboration will bring significant efficiencies to collateral, margin, settlement and fee payments. Industry reports predict that the tokenized asset market could reach trillions of dollars by 2030.
