Odaily Planet Daily News Unicoin CEO Alex Konanykhin said his company is still under investigation and called on the new SEC leadership to end the charges against Unicoin. Konanykhin said he had written to the SEC Crypto Task Force on March 17, questioning the motives of the investigation and requesting a review of the behavior of law enforcement officials involved in the case to "weaponize regulatory power for political purposes." Before the end of the Biden administration, the SEC accused Unicoin of fraud, misleading behavior, and the issuance of unregistered securities. Konanykhin said the company was forced to promise not to go public in the United States, not to raise funds, and not to issue tokens, and once moved to Europe to conduct business. After taking office, Trump promised to make the United States the "global crypto capital." Konanykhin then returned to New York to prepare for listing, but the SEC announced that it would file a civil lawsuit against the company. The "illegal airdrops" accused by the SEC are essentially a common marketing strategy in the crypto industry, and even "the president is using them when issuing meme coins." Konanykhin believes that if the SEC still insists on pursuing accountability, "many bystanders will be shocked."
An SEC spokesperson declined to comment on the status of Unicoin's case.
