The Algorand Foundation has appointed Anil Kakani, a former senior adviser to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, as its head of India. Kakani will lead the AlgoBharat team and all Algorand programming and projects in India, including university education programs, community projects, and private and public partnerships. Kakani previously held a number of roles in the public and private sectors in Washington, DC, including serving as Senior Advisor to the U.S. Treasury Department for India, where he established the first bilateral partnership between the U.S. and Indian ministries of finance. He also served as Director of Business Development at Corning Incorporated India and held executive positions at Anand Rathi Investment Banking in India and Vikasa Holdings in the US.
