Odaily Planet Daily News: The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia issued a statement on Friday saying that 26-year-old Alabama resident Eric Council Jr. has been sentenced to 14 months in prison.
Eric Council Jr. was charged with conspiracy to commit serious identity theft and access device fraud, and his crimes were related to hacking into the U.S. SEC's social media account. Previously, the U.S. SEC's X account was hacked and published false information, falsely claiming that the spot Bitcoin ETF had been approved. The false release occurred the day before the U.S. SEC actually approved the spot Bitcoin ETF, which briefly caused market fluctuations. (The Block)
