Odaily Planet Daily News Bilal Bin Saqib, Special Assistant to the Pakistani Government and Advisor on Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Affairs, announced at the "Bitcoin 2025" conference in Las Vegas, USA, that Pakistan is setting up a national strategic reserve of Bitcoin, and said "We will hold these Bitcoins and never sell them."
Bin Saqib said the plan was inspired by the establishment of Bitcoin reserves in the United States, and added that the Pakistani government also announced this week that it would allocate 2,000 megawatts of surplus electricity to Bitcoin mining and AI data centers to promote income generation, employment and attract foreign investment.
He is also an advisor to World Liberty Financial, a crypto project supported by Trump. The US government is currently said to hold more than 198,000 Bitcoins, mainly from criminal seizures, with a total value of more than $21.2 billion.
