U.S. and International Agencies Dismantle Russian Ransomware Group

According to PANews, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that on July 24, 2025, law enforcement agencies from the United States and several other countries conducted a joint operation targeting a Russian ransomware group. The operation resulted in the seizure of four servers, nine domains, and approximately $1 million in Bitcoin assets. The crackdown focused on the BlackSuit and Royal ransomware, which have extorted over $500 million since 2022, with at least $370 million in illegal profits. Part of the frozen Bitcoin assets includes a $1.45 million ransom paid by victims in April 2023. U.S. officials stated that this action significantly disrupts the group's operations, and further investigations are ongoing, potentially leading to additional charges.
