Polymarket founder becomes youngest self-made billionaire tracked by Bloomberg

At just 27 years old, Shayne Coplan, founder of the prediction market platform Polymarket, has become a billionaire with a pre-money valuation of $8 billion after securing a $2 billion investment from Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange. Coplan, who once had to sell his apartment contents to cover rent due to cash constraints, began building Polymarket in his bathroom in 2019, inspired by economist Robin Hanson's prediction market theory, and officially launched it in June 2020. Despite early regulatory restrictions and even an FBI raid for its unregistered trading platform, Polymarket's explosive growth has attracted Wall Street giants.
