Former BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes Sentenced to 6 Months of Home Confinement and 2 Years of Probation
The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Friday sentenced formerBitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes to six months of home confinement and location monitoring, probation for two years. Hayes pleaded guilty in February to violations of anti-money laundering (AML) regulations and the US Bank Secrecy Act (BSA). Hayes, who lives in Singapore, will be allowed 30 days to choose where in the United States he will be placed under home confinement. In addition, the court judge agreed that upon successful completion of his home detention period, he will be able to travel abroad and speak with a probation officer via video if necessary. Hayes' plea deal with the government earlier this year outlined a sentencing guideline of six to 12 months in prison, and the charges he faces carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. But because Hayes was a first-time offender and had a long history of charity work, the Probation Service recommended two years of probation and no jail time.

OpenSea Launches a New Market Protocol Seaport Protocol
The NFT market OpenSea announced on Friday the launch of a new Web3 market protocol Seaport Protocol, which is used to buy and sell NFT safely and efficiently. OpenSea said, "Seaport's core smart contract is open source and decentralized in nature. Upgradability and other features". Unlike some platforms that can only exchange cryptocurrencies for NFTs, the Seaport protocol allows users to obtain NFTs in a series of new ways. Bidders (or offerers) can bundle different assets (such as offering ETH/ERC20/ERC721/ERC1155 items) in exchange for NFT. For example, suppose a user owns a Doodle NFT of 40ETH but wants to trade a BAYC NFT of 100ETH. The user can bid with the Doodle NFT he owns and 60ETH. OpenSea said it does not control or operate the Seaport protocol, and partnered with code4rena to start a two-week protocol audit competition with a $1 million prize pool.
