Binance has recently ended its partnership with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) due to the AFA's failure to meet contractual obligations. The agreement, which made Binance the Global Main Sponsor of Argentina's national soccer team until 2027, was terminated after it was found that the AFA did not fulfill its responsibilities.
The collaboration between Binance and the AFA was initiated in January 2022, just ahead of the World Cup in Qatar, where Argentina emerged victorious. This partnership marked a significant milestone for Binance as it was the first time the exchange had teamed up with a national soccer team.
In a tweet announcing the decision to cut ties, Binance emphasized its commitment to business values and association principles, which were not met by the AFA's actions. Despite this separation, Binance expressed its dedication to expand its presence in Argentina by continuing to engage with local partners, including prestigious universities. The exchange aims to enhance educational efforts and forge strategic business alliances in the country.
One such initiative involved Binance's collaboration with Austral University in May, where they jointly offered a five-month training program focused on cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, Web3, and the Metaverse.
