Critical internet infrastructure provider Cloudflare recently suffered widespread issues that brought down many crypto exchange websites.
Cryptocurrency exchange FTX said on Twitter that many people would have difficulty accessing its platform and other websites, claiming that the exchange is now in "post-only" mode. The issue was also discussed on Twitter by crypto exchanges Bitfinex and OKEx, with the latter asking if there are Web3 alternatives in the future.
Cloudflare, which went public about three years ago, provides businesses with the web infrastructure that allows them to post material online. The infrastructure also provides security services, including distributed denial-of-service protection (DDOS).
This isn't the first time Cloudfare has had a ripple effect in the cryptocurrency world. In August 2020, a similar outage brought down Bitfinex and other major websites.
In addition to cryptocurrency exchanges, other websites and applications such as Indian brokers Zerodha and Upstox, as well as communication platform Discord are currently experiencing "500 internal server error".
Cloudflare said that the problem has been identified and fixed, and the results are being monitored and observed.
