The team behind the popular blockchain explorer and analytics platform Etherscan has launched an Ethereum-based wallet-to-wallet instant messaging service called “Blockscan Chat.”
Currently in beta mode, Blockscan currently allows users to have wallet-to-wallet instant chat, access the chat from multiple devices, block spam or unwanted addresses, and get notified on the block explorer when messages are received.
This new feature is a great way to chat with other anonymous people — such as negotiating anonymous purchases — and it could be especially handy when dealing with incidents of white hat hackers, who often leave messages in ethereum transactions to communicate with personal communication, and attack encrypted platforms.
In last week's Multichain hack, a so-called white hat hacker returned 322 ETH (but kept the hefty tip fee), and last year, PolyNetwork had $610 million stolen, both of which involved passing ether Anonymous discussions are held on the Internet as part of negotiations between criminals and victims.
Etherescan announced the new feature in a Jan. 26 tweet, writing, “Want to know what this is for…?”, with an accompanying screenshot depicting a message notification on the platform.
In addition to begging hackers to return funds for bounties, this service may help the NFT market.
Twitter user "bdmartino" believes that this feature can be used to negotiate NFT transactions between buyers and sellers, adding that if the transaction is conducted by a decentralized exchange, both parties can reduce the interaction with NFT platforms (such as OpenSea) associated costs.
Going a step further, why not integrate sudoswap-like functionality directly into the Blockscan messaging app? Talk about NFT trading could become a major use case.
