According to restaurateur Ricardo Varona, Crypto Street accepts payments in all digital assets, including memecoins and so-called “junkcoins.”
In a Dec. 29 interview with the Tampa Bay Times, Varona said his 24-year-old son first introduced him to cryptocurrencies a few years ago, but he didn’t like the industry at the time. However, over time, he became interested in the concept of crypto assets and initially considered launching a restaurant that would accept crypto payments.
After various fees and supply chain issues became apparent in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Varona said he changed his plans to launch a single cryptocurrency-themed venue rather than a chain that only accepts cryptocurrencies.
"I've been thinking, I want to do something different, something new, and I've been thinking about cryptocurrency... I've planned to do something new, cut ties with the franchise, and started working on Crypto Street worked hard."
Varona said the restaurant can accept crypto payments through a merchant account or peer-to-peer payments directly to his wallet.
“We’ve had a few crypto deals so far, although a lot of people are interested in using it. There are also some people who just sold it, or want to hold it for the long term. But a lot of people understand that using it adds value,” he said explain.

This isn't the first time the beloved Dogecoin has been associated with hot dogs. Previously, Oscar Mayer, an American meat giant, auctioned a pack of unique "Hot Doge Wieners" (hot dog sausages) through eBay in August.
Last month, Cointelegraph also reported that popular fast-food chain Burger King partnered with retail exchange platform Robinhood to give away free cryptocurrency to customers who send $5 or more to its locations across the U.S., mostly in DOGE. gift form.
