American food manufacturing and processing giant Kraft Foods Group has filed for Non-Fungible Token (NFT) and Metaverse patents for several of its popular brands.
Like mainstream companies such as Gatorade, Nike, Adidas, and Coca-Cola, the company has also started to protect its products and brands in the encrypted/virtual space.
Kraft Foods has locked down trademarks for Jell-O, Kool-Aid, Velveeta, Lunchables, Oscar Mayer, Philadelphia and, of course, Card Husband brand.
The company's NFT and Metaverse trademarks cover a wide range of potential services and products, including virtual restaurants where users can earn rewards and virtual assets, virtual food and beverages, NFTs and NFT-backed media, and virtual goods and NFT marketplaces.
At this stage, it's unclear if Kraft will launch any virtual products or promotions anytime soon, or if it's just looking to lock in the trademark early. However, one of the company's brands has already made small moves last year, with beloved hot dog maker Oscar Mayer auctioning off a set of Dogecoin (DOGE)-themed "Hot Doge Wieners" on eBay in August 2021 (Hot Dog Sausage), 10,000 Dogecoins for free.
Seth Green reunites with his Boring Ape NFT
Seth Green finally got his BAYC NFT back. The crooks swindled the NFT from the Hollywood star and “Robot Chicken” co-producer via a phishing scam. According to Seth Green, the Ape #8398 has "come home".
After Green’s NFT was stolen a month ago, scammers sold it to user DarkWing84 for 106.5 ETH (approximately $144,000 at the time). Green immediately contacted the buyer and finalized a deal online, which is a particularly important deal because he has named the NFT Fred Simian and is making an animation based on the NFT's IP.
It appears to have been a lengthy negotiation process, as the NFT did not return to the actor until late last week.
Due to the stolen NFT being locked and unable to be purchased on OpenSea, Green paid 165 ETH, worth approximately $224,300 at the time of writing, to get his tokens back via crypto escrow platform NFT trader, suggesting he paid Darkwing84 Nearly 60 ETH was collected, and the latter returned the NFT in good faith.
Jim Carrey creates original artwork for charity
Comedian Jim Carrey is auctioning off an original symbolic work of art called "Sunshower" through SuperRare, with all proceeds going to a nonprofit called Feeding America , an organization that supports food banks across the United States.
In addition to being known worldwide as a comedian, Carrey is a respected artist who has created everything from physical paintings and illustrations to full-on animation work.
The Sunshower NFT depicts an animated version of a vibrant acrylic canvas painting in which rain and bright colors wash over a male's face, with a narration playing in the background.
At press time, the auction was still a day and a half away, and the highest bids so far totaled 42.35 ETH, or roughly $57,500.
