In light of the recent partnership with Bali Blockchain Centre, Coinlive interviewed Naqib Noor, co-founder and development lead of the new Bitcoin Ordinals marketplace, Ordzaar.
Ordzaar is a permissionless and trustless Zero-Fee Bitcoin Ordinals marketplace where users can buy, sell, and trade Ordinals.
In September, Ordzaar announced a partnership with Bali Blockchain Centre, as a means to preserve local Balinese art through inscribing them as Bitcoin Ordinals.
Hello Naqib! Introduce yourself and Ordzaar to our Coinlive readers! What should we know about the new Bitcoin Ordinals marketplace?
GM Coinlive readers!
I am Naqib, the Co-Founder and Development Lead of Ordzaar, a permissionless Zero-Fee Bitcoin Ordinals marketplace where users can buy, sell, and trade Ordinals.
My background spans eight years in the cryptocurrency sector, including being at Kyber Network as an Operations Manager for over three years.
Separately, I have also been actively advising and supporting crypto projects on a pro bono basis.
Alongside my co-founders, we founded Ordzaar to empower artists and inspire collectors by giving them a simple-to-use platform to launch their digital artworks seamlessly and securely, with zero platform fees.
We focus on being trustless, permissionless, transparent, and secure.
The Ordzaar team has been actively spearheading Ordinals meet-ups in various regions, particularly Asia — i.e. Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan and more.
Why did Ordzaar launch a marketplace on Bitcoin Ordinals?
The team at Ordzaar are big supporters and proponents of Ordinals’ massive potential, proving that Bitcoin is more than just a peer-to-peer payment system and has demonstrated a new, high-value use case for the longest-running cryptocurrency.
However, with that being said, Bitcoin Ordinals are still a relatively nascent innovation and are in the early stages of its boom.
As Bitcoin Ordinal inscriptions continue to surge in popularity, the lack of an easy-to-use Ordinals marketplace posed a major challenge.
We felt that there was an urgent need for a reliable and secure platform that allows buyers and sellers to transact in a decentralised manner, giving them complete control over their assets.
Hence comes Ordzaar, a portmanteau of the words "Ordinals" and "Bazaar".
Tell us what makes Ordzaar different from other existing marketplaces.
We built Ordzaar to give artists, creators and collectors a platform to create, buy, and sell Ordinals trustless-ly, while not needing to pay any middleman fees.
Our UI/UX is also one of the easiest to use for artists and creators to launch their artworks.
Due to our permissionless nature, any artist or collection can launch in Ordzaar without any barriers (so long as our content guidelines are adhered to).
Apart from that, Ordzaar does not require users to sign any form of transaction to use the platform as we strongly believe in a permissionless and seamless experience.
Ultimately, our mission is to make buying and selling blockchain digital assets simple for artists and traders.
Ordzaar just announced a partnership with Bali Blockchain Centre. Could you share some background about how that all came about?
Yes, we recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Bali Blockchain Center (BBC) after I had a chance encounter with IGP Rahman Desyanta, the BBC’s CEO.
We got to talking about how we could collaborate to preserve and enhance the cultural heritage of Bali while embracing the exciting possibilities of Ordinals technology.
And in doing so, enable local artists to receive the recognition and support they deserve.
The partnership will allow the preservation of Balinese artists’ works on the blockchain. Was there a reason this needed to happen? (Eg. their works were being lost/damaged over time?)
Through this partnership, the artworks of local Balinese artists will be uploaded onto Ordzaar, where they will be minted into Bitcoin Ordinals.
Not only does this partnership mark the first instance a government entity has recognised Ordinals as a utility, it will also play a pivotal role in the promotion and commercialisation of Balinese art and artworks created by local artists.
The aim is to bridge the traditional world of art with the cutting-edge, borderless possibilities offered by Ordinals technology, ultimately expanding the reach and impact of Balinese art on a global scale.
Stay tuned as we have more big partnerships lined up!
Is there a particular Balinese artist whose works you’d like to share with us!
The Balinese art scene boasts an abundance of talented and renowned artists, showcasing a rich and diverse creative landscape — it is near impossible to pick just one!
Actually, our first collaboration will take place 19 to 26 October 2023.
I will be meeting a variety of Balinese artists to educate, discuss, and work closely with them, to collaborate with popular Ordinals projects to launch one-of-a-kind artwork.
Lastly, let’s end the interview off with you telling us what you wish to see in the crypto space going forward, especially in the context of Southeast Asia.
Last month, we unveiled Ordzaar Studio, a fully on-chain Bitcoin Ordinals launchpad that enables artists to inscribe Ordinals and publish inscriptions.
On top of zero platform fees, Ordzaar Studio also does not take any fees from artists so they retain full minting price on their collections.
Further, when launching their collections, artists will not only receive marketing support but also have their collections and traits permanently inscribed on-chain.
During the recent Ordinals Summit 2023 held in Singapore during Asia Crypto Week, we announced a new Honour-Based Creators Royalty feature designed to foster sustainability and reward long-term vision in the burgeoning Ordinals builder ecosystem.
Ultimately, every action we take is a strategic move toward achieving our goal of becoming a fully decentralised marketplace run by the community where users can buy, sell, and trade Bitcoin Ordinals.
Going forward, you can expect more of such announcements!
