Serie A champions AC Milan are set to launch a new non-fungible token (NFT) initiative that promises a host of benefits for its fans.

In other NFT-related news the Solana network is smashing transaction records, and a Bored Ape made its former owner very happy indeed.

AC Milan launches MonkeyLeague NFTs
AC Milan and MonkeyLeague have signed a strategic partnership that will witness the creation of a host of new assets and features for the turn-based Web3 soccer game.

The deal means that fans can soon expect game assets including MonkeyPlayer NFTs, Stadium NFTs, in-game wearables, design and game collaborations, game play tests with AC Milan players and sponsored e-sports tournaments.

This fits with the company’s vision “to develop MonkeyLeague into a franchise adopted by the masses.”

In a club statement, Casper Stylsvig, Chief Revenue Officer of AC Milan said: “We are particularly proud to be the first football club to partner with MonkeyLeague, bringing this game to our supporters around the world and offering them a new innovative way to engage with their favorite team.”

Bored Ape NFT makes huge profit
It is worth remembering that for all the doom and gloom in the market and wider cryptosphere, that there are still huge gains to be found for those that are willing to look.

Bored Ape #2883 was sold on Monday for 105 ETH, making its former owner a very tidy 775% profit. In cash terms, that’s over $120,000.

Solana is surging
NFT transactions on the Solana network have surged past the one million marker this month. In the week ending Sept. 12, the network crossed the key milestone for the first time, and came close to doing so in the week ending Sept. 19 too, with 900,000 transactions recorded.

While an ever-skeptical Crypto Twitter saw potential in the figures for manipulation, there were others who defended the figures.

Among the potential drivers of the spike in transactions were the NFT collections ABC and y00ts.

For NFT enthusiasts there are a number of upcoming NFT giveaways to look forward to.

Foxtopia NFT is promising its NFT drop on Sept. 27 as is Punked Goblins and Vivity Quest.

On Sept. 28, comes Bored Cat Boat Club (not affiliated with Yuga Labs) and the Harley Quinn NFT collection.
