Trump Unveils $99 NFTs for Sale

Former President Donald Trump is selling NFTs.

Trump unveiled the digital assets on Thursday (Dec. 15) on his social media platform, Truth Social. The non-fungible tokens (NFTs) feature his likeness, according to multiple media reports.

The Collect Trump Cards website offers what it described as “limited-edition digital trading cards” for $99 each.

“These are just like baseball cards, but you collect them digitally, on your computer or phone,” the website said. “All you need is an email address and a credit card to start collecting 1, 10, 20 or 100.”

The images on the NFTs shown on the site include those of Trump in a suit, on a golf course, wearing hunting gear and in a superhero outfit. The site said some of the NFTs will be one of a kind, while others will have as many as 20 copies available.

The cards can be purchased with a credit card or with the cryptocurrency Wrapped Ether (WETH), are minted on the Polygon blockchain and can be stored in the buyer’s existing crypto wallet or in one provided by Collect Trump Cards, according to the site.

The purchase of each trading card also enters the buyer into a sweepstakes — with the thousands of prizes including a meeting with the former president — while the purchase of 45 trading cards guarantees a ticket to a dinner with Trump in Florida, the website said.
“Trump Digital Trading Cards (NFTs) are intended as collectible items for individual enjoyment only, not for investment vehicles,” the site said.

This announcement comes a year after former first lady Melania Trump entered the NFT world.

Bloomberg News reported Dec. 16, 2021, that her inaugural NFT — dubbed “Melania’s Vision” — would include watercolor art that “embodies Mrs. Trump’s cobalt blue eyes, providing the collector with an amulet to inspire,” according to the token’s marketing copy.

The NFT was available at the time for one SOL, a cryptocurrency running on the Solana blockchain that was priced at $183.
