In November 2020, Xi'an City became one of the second batch of six pilot areas to obtain the qualifications of digital RMB pilot areas. With the support and guidance of relevant departments and the Xi'an Branch of the People's Bank of China, various pilot operating agencies continue to optimize the digital RMB acceptance environment. Xi'an has initially established a digital RMB ecosystem with both application scenarios and consumer groups.

As of the end of April this year, more than 100,000 merchants have accepted digital RMB in Xi'an, opened more than 22 million personal wallets, nearly 1.59 million public wallets, and the city's transaction volume reached 6.118 billion yuan. The use of digital renminbi basically covers various fields such as life services, retail consumption, transportation, education and medical care, smart people's livelihood, government services, and Internet platforms.

In the next step, Xi'an will strengthen the publicity and popularization of digital renminbi knowledge, and carry out a series of various activities to benefit the people in tourist attractions, large business districts, etc., so that the public can widely understand and use digital renminbi, and make every effort to improve the digital renminbi in Xi'an.
