Research conducted by TRM Labs indicates a substantial reduction of over 50% in hack volumes compared to 2022. Although the frequency of attacks remained stable at around 160, the total value purloined plummeted to $1.7 billion, a sharp contrast to the $4 billion lost in the preceding year.

Cryptocurrency, since its genesis in 2009, has been a prime target for cyber heists, with billions siphoned off annually. The year 2020 saw $1.9 billion in losses, escalating to a staggering $14 billion in 2021. In 2022, the industry suffered a loss of $3.8 billion, as per a Chainalysis report.

In line with 2022 patterns, a few significant heists dominated, with the top ten accounting for nearly 70% of all funds stolen. Several of these heists surpassed the $100 million threshold, targeting prominent entities such as Euler Finance, Multichain, Mixin Network, and Poloniex.
