American rapper and singer Doja Cat's account on Twitter (aka , the account has approximately 5.6 million followers.
At 7:15pm ET on Monday, the Doja Cat account made its first post after being hacked. The first post linked to a holding address and included a message imploring users to "Buy $DOJA or else" .
Within an hour of this post, the coin surged over 79,000% before plummeting to over $2.3 million so far.
The Doja Cat account then posted an even more outrageous tweet: "That stupid b**ch @IGGYAZALEA and buy $DOJA."
It was only after this that Twitter users, including Iggy, realized that Doja Cat's account had been hacked, and she tweeted that she knew the real Doja Cat did not post these posts.
Later, Doja Cat also clarified on ins that her Twitter account was hacked and the person who posted the message was not her.
Doja Cat's account was hacked and included a post labeling her music as "demon" while promoting American musician Weiland.
Celebrity social accounts are frequently hacked by encryption hackers
This is the latest of several incidents involving hacked social accounts belonging to celebrities, often with tens of millions of followers, and Solana-based meme coins.
Last month, former wrestling star Hulk Hogan's Twitter account was hacked to promote a similar scam.
This was followed by the leak of an account belonging to rapper 50 Cent, a breach that netted hackers more than $300 million from his social media profiles and endorsements.
Then in late June, Metallica’s X account was also hacked by crypto scammers promoting $METAL. The scammers released details about the scheme, which will allow users to redeem their METAL tokens for Metallica show tickets and exclusive merchandise, including an Xbox console allegedly signed by Metallica himself.
