Identity a mystery: British court will decide whether "Satoshi Nakamoto is real or fake"

Australian computer scientist Craig Steven Wright claims to have invented the world’s largest Crypto asset, BTC. He will attend a court hearing on January 15 Yes, to defend his claim that he is Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of BTC.

In April 2021, the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), a non-profit community of technology and Crypto companies, filed a lawsuit against Wright for claiming to be the creator of BTC.

The trial of the case is scheduled to be held in the British High Court in January 2024, and the case hearing time will be from January to March 2024.

Given that the legality of BTC’s origins remains a key question in the world of crypto assets, the lawsuit seeks to determine whether Wright can substantiate his controversial claims with conclusive evidence.

Wright has previously been involved in multiple lawsuits over his claims that he invented BTC.

Earlier in 2021, Wright sued several BTC developers after they refused to take back 110,000 BTC that his company Tulip Trading claimed to own.

Wright has also been involved in legal disputes for a long time, which is evident in his previous lawsuits. He claims that crypto exchanges Coinbase and Kraken violated his rights by using the name “BTC.”

The outcome of Wright’s legal battle will have a profound impact not only on himself, but also on the broader Crypto community.

If a British court upholds his claim, it would solidify his identity as the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto, effectively validating his long-controversial claims.

On the contrary, an adverse ruling will further call his credibility into question and reignite discussions about the true identity of BTC’s creator.

In an X (formerly Twitter) post, Wright publicly gave up on BTC, the Crypto asset he always claimed to have invented. He stated that he would not allow BTC to continue to exist in a deformed state.

The self-proclaimed creator of BTC revealed that he did not receive any compensation in the process of inventing BTC. Wright asserts that some others have tampered with BTC and acted against his will as the purported inventor of the Crypto asset.

Wright disclosed in this long article that he attached a simple condition to his vision for BTC, which is to explicitly require BTC to maintain its original design.

Wright said his conditions have still not been met. Many have falsely accused him of plagiarism and trying to copy his alleged creations, turning them into "something completely different."

Wright added: “I conceived BTC and showed it to the world, however, more and more people are splitting BTC.So I choose to give up on BTC because I don’t allow it. Exists in grotesque form, both in its physical manifestation and in its underlying connotation."
