This morning, a long-lost brother sent me a text message, which reminded me of a past event.
This brother is older than me and is a colleague I met when I joined a company in 2019.
The brother is quite talkative, and we chat from time to time in the company. His values are full of Austrian school, believing in the market, the rule of law, small government, and the need for power to be restricted.
Because I understand his values, I will chat with him about some of my experiences in crypto assets intentionally or unintentionally.
Otherwise, according to my habit, I will definitely not talk about these with people with different values, and I will not take the initiative to talk about crypto assets with people I don’t understand.
From the conversation, it can be seen that the eldest brother's financial situation is very good. He is very optimistic about Bitcoin and tends to allocate some crypto assets, but he feels that there is a layer of membrane between his understanding of crypto assets.
He felt that I knew a little more about crypto assets than he did, so he specifically looked for me for an in-depth face-to-face exchange.
The records on WeChat show that the exchange was in August 2021. In that exchange, I shared with him my views on Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc. His thinking followed very quickly, and while listening to me, he also expressed his ideas-many of which were quite insightful.
What impressed me most was that after I talked to him about NFT and crypto punk, which he had never heard of, he immediately said that the future of crypto punk was amazing and would definitely be a benchmark for artworks in the digital age. Hearing him say this, I deliberately replied to him with the popular view at the time: Some people say that it is just a picture and is worthless. He immediately answered my words: Those people don't understand its value and significance.
The number of people who can have such an understanding of crypto assets in a short period of time can be counted on one hand among the people I have met in these years. Therefore, whenever I meet such people, I can't help but appreciate and admire them.
When it comes to buying Bitcoin and Ethereum, although my brother is rich and can afford it, he still thinks that the price at that time is already relatively high and it is not cost-effective to buy.
I also agree with his opinion, but I also emphasized to him: Although you can wait for their prices to fall before buying, this is just my guess. I can't judge whether they will fall in the future and how much they will fall before buying.
My brother still wants to wait, but hopes that I will send him a message when I think it is worth buying.

I took note of this advice very seriously and have kept it in mind ever since. I felt that this was not only a kind of protection of my promise, but also a kind of mutual appreciation for this elder brother's insight.
WeChat records show that on May 16, 2022, I sent a WeChat message to my eldest brother and told him:
"Bitcoin is $35,000, and Ethereum is below $2,500. You can start investing, but this price is likely to fall further, and it is possible to fall by 50% or even more. But in the long run, I think it's okay."
My eldest brother immediately replied to express his gratitude.
Since then, due to work reasons, I rarely go to that company again, and my eldest brother has also found a better job, and we have no WeChat communication.
But last night, my eldest brother suddenly sent me a WeChat message, saying:
It's a pity that he didn't buy it, and asked if Bitcoin and Ethereum can still be bought now? If you buy it, will the current price be too high?
I just saw this message this morning.
When I saw this message, my mind suddenly froze a little, and I didn't know how to reply to my brother for a while---------maybe it was a little lost in my heart, maybe the past events came to my mind, or maybe it was a little unbelievable.
After calming down a little, I replied to my brother:
I will not buy these two coins now, I will only hold them. The short-term outlook is not good, but in the 10-year perspective, I believe that Bitcoin will reach 1 million US dollars in the future...
Soon, my brother replied to me. In addition to expressing his gratitude, he also said:
Do you think it's time to buy it? Can you remind me?
Seeing this familiar reminder, I readily agreed.
But I have a feeling that my elder brother will give me similar instructions again in the future.
