BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes issued a call for WORM at 15:51 on November 19, and the price of WORM rose by 60%, from $0.05 to $0.08. It should be noted that Arthur Hayes's call for "track record" is "checkable". He once expressed optimism about PENDLE but sold it on the chain. After calling MOTHER many times, the price fell instead of rising. However, it does not prevent us from briefly understanding the WORM project itself.

According to Dex Screener data, the WORM token was created 26 days ago (October 24), and the price was $0.076 as of the time of posting, with a market value of $74.9 million and a peak price of $0.092. Although positioned by Hayes as the DeSci track (perhaps because of its meaning as nematodes in scientific research), it seems that the project has also stepped on the cusp of the AI agent track, aiming to break through the limitations of traditional anthropomorphic AI agents and turn to AI agent organisms.
DeepWorm
WORM is the DeepWorm token. According to the official document, DeepWorm aims to build a digital brain that lives on the chain. By deploying its biological neural network on the chain, it can make self-informed decisions and execute on the chain forever, making it impossible to be killed.
DeepWorm has 302 neurons, which are exactly the same as the neural structure of nematodes. It is supported by the TEE infrastructure of Marlin Protocol. The ultimate goal is to achieve verifiable on-chain neural computing. On-chain verification uses the infrastructure of Marlin Protocol, and each neural computation is cryptographically verified.
The meaning of nematodes
DeepWorm's choice of nematodes (Worm) as a model also has a deep meaning. Nematodes (Caenorhabditis elegans) are the simplest but complete biological nervous system model with 302 neurons.
Nematodes have made many contributions to scientific research, and at least two Nobel Prizes are associated with them. C. elegans is the first organism to have its genome mapped. With the existing knowledge of nematodes, a virtual worm brain can be created in the computer to observe its reactions. C. elegans is expected to become the first organism to be virtualized.
In addition, in the November 2023 issue of Nature magazine, scientists used nematodes to make a major breakthrough in understanding the function of the human brain. A team led by the UK Research and Innovation Agency has drawn the first map showing how each neuron in the tiny worm's nervous system communicates wirelessly.

The role of WORM
DeepWorm was first tweeted on October 24. Its mission at that time was to build a digital life that simulates the nervous system of biological worms, which is basically consistent with its current development route.

The role of the token WORM in DeepWorm is to serve as the input signal source of the neural network. The operating mechanism of DeepWorm's on-chain decision-making is roughly divided into:
Input layer: The token contract is used as the worm body, and the transaction hash values such as buying, selling, and transfer are used as environmental input signals;
Processing layer: The input signal is processed through three layers of intermediate neurons, and the neurons generate continuous activation values to simulate biological neural activities
Output layer: The motor neurons determine the direction of movement based on the processed data. On the infinite grid, they can choose to move up, down, left, or right, and the softmax function is used to calculate the final direction of movement.
Note: Softmax function is a mathematical tool that converts multiple values into probability distribution. It is often used to calculate the probability of users' preference for different products and to sort the recommendation weights of multiple options.
The V1 version of the application released by DeepWorm contains the movement track and historical movement coordinates of Worm, but as of the time of posting, the "recent input" stops at 14 hours ago, and the historical record stops at 22 hours ago.

The team will take a snapshot of coin holders
In addition, DeepWorm official X account posted a message a few minutes after Arthur Hayes’ call (15:58 on November 19) that 2.4% of the tokens in the developer wallet will be distributed to WORM holders, and the snapshot will be taken within 24 hours.

The Chang signed here is suspected to be the founder of DeepWorm. His historical tweets show that he worked at Scroll and is currently working for Ethereum yield protocol Dinero (formerly Redacted Cartel)
It is worth noting that the official X account of DeepWorm once posted a Chinese post titled "DeepWorm: Made in Shenzhen", which is suspected to be a project of a Chinese team.
