Moon Ga-bi Condemns AI-Generated Video That Falsely Shows Her Son’s Face
South Korean model and broadcaster Moon Ga-bi has spoken out after discovering an AI-generated video that falsely depicts her son’s face using her personal photos without permission.
The incident has reignited debate over digital ethics and the misuse of artificial intelligence in manipulating personal images.
A Mother’s Outcry Against Digital Fabrication
Moon revealed on social media that she had shared several photos of her daily life with her son on 30 October.
In those images, her child’s face was intentionally turned away from the camera — a common practice among public figures in Korea who strive to protect their loved ones’ privacy.
However, Moon later found an unrelated account that had “used my photos without consent to illegally create and post an AI-generated video,” falsely implying she had publicly shown her child’s face and made official statements about him.
She added,
“The footage and captions are completely false and were produced without permission using my original photos.”
Calling For Responsibility In The Digital Age
In her statement, Moon expressed frustration at how the situation distorted her family’s private life, saying,
“I ask everyone to refrain from illegal acts that distort the daily life of a mother and her child through fabricated photos or videos.”
The model further clarified that she has never revealed her son’s face “in any photo or video anywhere” and emphasised that the AI-produced material circulating online was entirely fabricated.
She wrote,
“Please refrain from acts that violate the law that distort the daily life of mothers and children, including fake photos or videos that are not the real self of the child. I'm asking you.”
A Family Kept Private
Moon Ga-bi first announced the birth of her son in November 2023.
It was later confirmed that actor Jung Woo-sung is the biological father.
Jung’s agency stated at the time,
“The child Moon Ga-bi revealed is indeed Jung’s biological son. The two are currently discussing co-parenting, and Jung intends to take full responsibility as a father.”
Since the announcement, Moon has been careful to maintain her son’s privacy, sharing glimpses of their life together without exposing his identity — a choice widely respected among public figures, where protecting family members, especially children, from public scrutiny is seen as a safeguard for both safety and mental wellbeing.
Jung Woo-sung is a highly acclaimed South Korean actor known for his roles in popular films such as 'A Moment to Remember' and 'The Good, the Bad, the Weird'.
The Blurred Line Between Creation And Violation
The rise of AI-generated media has made it easier than ever to manipulate reality, often blurring the boundary between creativity and consent.
Coinlive believes Moon Ga-bi’s case is not just a personal violation but a reflection of a growing social issue — where technology’s misuse erodes trust and turns private life into public fiction.
The industry and regulators must act swiftly to ensure AI innovation serves truth, not distortion.
