Stacks co-founder: How will Bitcoin x AI be combined?

I have some preliminary thoughts about Bitcoin x artificial intelligence:

Many people Correctly recognized that machine-to-machine payments could be an important use case for BTC. If AI robots can enter the financial sector, the natural choice seems to be Bitcoin, the largest and most decentralized network for permissionless innovation.

However, we need to separate Bitcoin assets from Bitcoin. While Bitcoin is the original asset, the Bitcoin space is not yet ready for simple programmability. Objectively, it would be easier, faster, and cheaper for developers to use Solana or Ethereum than using Bitcoin L1 today.

Two things stand out in the Bitcoin space:

(a) Developers need full virtual machines. Limited L2 may not be enough. A fully expressive programming environment can unleash the full creativity of developers, and interacting with AI models can be logistically complex.

 (b) We will need new AI-specific primitives, such as simple ways to verify model/data authenticity. New abstractions make AI integration easier, and more. Bitcoin L2, which can adapt to changing needs, will likely see greater use.

Passive holding of BTC is a huge use case for Bitcoin, but Bitcoin x AI is different. AI use of BTC requires active transactions (payments, verifications, logic-based triggers, etc.), which means that most of this activity will occur on Bitcoin L2 because L1 is too expensive.

Bitcoin L2s with full virtual machines, such as Stacks, Rootstock, and some upcoming new L2s are well-positioned to start experimenting with AI integration.

I am excited about the possibilities of Bitcoin x AI and plan to participate in the early working group of AI x Stacks L2.
