Stablecoin giant Tether's upcoming artificial intelligence platform Tether AI will support mainstream cryptocurrency payments, including USDt and Bitcoin.
On May 5, Tether CEO Paolo Adroino was a guest at X and announced the upcoming launch of a new artificial intelligence platform Tether AI, which aims to provide "personal unlimited intelligence."
According to Ardoino, Tether's artificial intelligence platform will be integrated with USDt and Bitcoin payments, allowing users to trade directly through a peer-to-peer (P2P) network.
The plan builds on Tether’s December 2024 announcement that it was developing a website for the AI tool, with a goal of launching it by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
Ardoino stressed that Tether AI will not use application programming interface (API) keys or rely on centralized control points.
Instead, Tether AI will provide a “fully open source AI runtime” that runs on an “unstoppable peer-to-peer network” and is “fully modular and composable.”
In addition, he said that Tether AI will be able to adapt and develop on "any hardware and device."
The announcement also stated that Tether AI's P2P encrypted payments will be "integrated" with its open source wallet development kit (WDK) launched in November 2024.
Tether's WDK is a toolkit that helps developers build mobile, desktop and web wallet applications that support self-custodial or non-custodial USDt and Bitcoin.

Unlike custodial wallets, self-custodial wallet solutions allow users to have full control over their assets, eliminating the need to rely on third-party custody solutions to complete transactions.
Tether AI is part of the company's broader strategy to expand its presence in the field of artificial intelligence.
In April 2024, Tether announced a corporate reorganization, setting up new departments outside of stablecoin development and establishing Tether Data, a specialized department focused on AI and P2P development.
In February of this year, Ardoino announced that its AI department was developing a range of AI applications, including AI translation, AI voice assistant, and AI Bitcoin wallet assistant.
