The problem appears to be linked to the recent airdrop of DOGS, a memecoin that surged in popularity and overwhelmed the network with transactions.
Observers have noted that the network's transactions per second (TPS) fell short of expectations during this period of high activity. Such incidents, while uncommon, do occur, particularly when a blockchain experiences a sudden spike in demand.
Telegram Wallet previously stated that the release of DOGS caused multiple cryptocurrency exchanges and some Wallet functions to be unable to operate, and the Wallet’s exchange function is currently unavailable.
It is worth noting that the recent arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov in France also affected the price of TON. Although Telegram and TON are separate entities, they are often associated with each other, and developments involving one may affect the other.
