The U.S. government is set to conclude its large-scale immigration enforcement operation in Minnesota, according to Ming Pao. Tom Homan, known as the 'Border Czar' and the White House Border Affairs Commissioner, announced on Thursday that approximately 2,000 federal officers are withdrawing from the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The withdrawal process will continue into next week, leaving only a small contingent until the transfer of authority to local law enforcement is complete.
Homan disclosed that over 4,000 individuals have been arrested with the cooperation of local law enforcement agencies. The Trump administration initiated the deployment of federal agencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), to Minnesota about two and a half months ago to combat illegal immigration. During this period, two American citizens were shot and killed, sparking protests among local residents.
