China's Ministry of Commerce has addressed the recent tariff adjustments by the United States, stating that China is closely monitoring the situation and will comprehensively evaluate the U.S. measures. According to RTHK, China may decide to adjust its countermeasures concerning tariffs on fentanyl and reciprocal tariffs based on the developments. The spokesperson emphasized China's right to take necessary actions to protect its legitimate interests. China has consistently opposed unilateral tariff measures and urged the U.S. to cancel and refrain from imposing such tariffs. The spokesperson highlighted that cooperation between China and the U.S. benefits both parties, while conflict is detrimental. China is willing to engage in candid discussions with the U.S. during the upcoming sixth round of Sino-U.S. economic and trade consultations. The aim is to resolve mutual concerns and manage differences effectively, ensuring the healthy, stable, and sustainable development of Sino-U.S. economic and trade relations.
