Jeff Park, Chief Investment Officer at ProCap, has raised concerns about the impact of ETF structural flaws on Bitcoin prices. According to NS3.AI, Park claims that market makers, including Jane Street, are able to suppress Bitcoin prices due to exemptions from SEC short sale regulations. These exemptions allow Authorized Participants (APs) to short Bitcoin through futures contracts rather than making spot purchases, which disrupts natural price discovery.
Park argues that this issue is systemic within the ETF framework and suggests that changes are needed in redemption mechanisms and AP incentives to facilitate genuine price increases. He believes that addressing these structural flaws could lead to more authentic price movements in the Bitcoin market.
