EU Official Criticizes Future Combat Air System Project

On March 3, EU defense official Andrius Kubilius criticized the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) defense project. According to Jin10, Kubilius highlighted the lack of successful examples in pan-European defense projects. The FCAS, a collaborative fighter jet project by Germany, France, and Spain, was once seen as a model of European cooperation. However, ongoing disputes between Paris and Berlin have brought the project to the brink of collapse. Speaking at an event in Brussels on March 2, Kubilius noted that the EU has no successful examples of developing pan-European or even regional defense projects, with the FCAS being the latest instance of such failures.
