The White House has released a new cyber strategy document titled 'President Trump's Cyber Strategy for America,' according to PANews. The seven-page document outlines six main pillars, focusing on cyber offense and deterrence, but lacks detailed implementation plans. Notably, it is the first U.S. cybersecurity strategy to explicitly mention cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, emphasizing the need for their protection and security. This contrasts with the national cybersecurity strategy released by Joe Biden in 2023, which did not address these technologies.
The strategy also aims to 'eradicate criminal infrastructure and cut off financial exit channels,' supported by a new executive order targeting transnational cybercrime. Analysts suggest this could provide regulatory agencies with a basis to intensify actions against mixers, privacy coins, and unregulated financial channels.
Additionally, the strategy proposes expanding offensive cyber operation authorities and plans to involve the private sector in combating hostile networks. It also advocates for AI-driven automated cyber defense systems. A new operational unit will be established within the National Coordination Center to coordinate law enforcement against transnational cybercrime groups.
