Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Baghaei, stated on March 12 that the U.S. military presence in the Middle East contributes to regional instability rather than security. According to Jin10, Baghaei emphasized that Iran harbors no hostility towards regional countries and their people. However, Iran reserves the right to self-defense against military aggression and the use of certain countries' bases and facilities for attacks on Iran. Iran will take legal action against such bases if these countries do not cease allowing their territories and facilities to be used for attacks on Iran.
Regarding the passage through the Strait of Hormuz, Baghaei stressed that Iran is the guardian of the strait and that regional insecurity is not in Iran's interest. He attributed the insecurity to actions by the U.S. and Israeli governments. Baghaei noted that passing ships must coordinate with the Iranian Navy to ensure maritime safety.
