ByteDance has suspended the global release of its video generation model, Seedance 2.0, following copyright disputes with several Hollywood studios and streaming platforms. According to Odaily, Disney sent a cease-and-desist letter to ByteDance, accusing the company of using Disney characters without permission to train the Seedance 2.0 model. Disney claims that ByteDance pre-installed a library of copyrighted characters from franchises such as Star Wars and Marvel into the model. ByteDance initially released the model in February, with plans to launch it to global users in mid-March. Currently, ByteDance's legal team is investigating potential legal issues, while engineers are enhancing protective measures to prevent the model from generating content that could infringe on intellectual property rights.
