According to RTHK, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova expressed concerns over Japan's ongoing military expansion, including the acquisition of offensive weapons such as cruise missiles, which she stated are not defensive in nature. Zakharova highlighted that Russia has repeatedly warned Japan about the destructive consequences of significantly increasing its military budget, particularly when it involves acquiring weapons that pose potential threats to the security of neighboring countries, including Russia. She emphasized that if Russian territory faces new missile threats, Russia will respond and take necessary measures to ensure its national defense capabilities.
