India has instructed its oil and gas companies to provide detailed information on exports, imports, and inventories to government agencies. According to Jin10, this move comes as the South Asian nation seeks to shield consumers from potential supply shortages amid rising global oil prices due to conflicts involving the United States and Israel against Iran. A government directive issued late Wednesday designates the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell to gather and analyze the relevant data. The directive mandates that oil and gas companies must share pertinent information, regardless of any 'contractual, agreement, commercial arrangement, or confidentiality obligations.' Additionally, no entity can refuse to provide detailed information citing 'commercial sensitivity or proprietary' reasons. Despite being significantly affected by soaring crude prices and disruptions in oil and gas supplies, India has not imposed a ban on refined fuel exports.
