PANews posted on X (formerly Twitter). Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has criticized companies using artificial intelligence (AI) as a justification for layoffs, arguing that a lack of imagination is the real issue. In a conversation with Jim Cramer, Huang stated that while AI can enhance efficiency, companies with visionary leadership will leverage these tools to expand capabilities rather than reduce staff. He emphasized that firms struggling with innovation are merely using AI as an excuse for downsizing.
Huang pointed out the rapid revenue growth of AI companies like OpenAI and Anthropic, which reportedly see weekly increases of $10 to $20 billion. This challenges the narrative that AI companies are not profitable. Nvidia itself has seen a surge in orders, adding $500 billion in just five months, and continues to hire more employees.
Huang's comments suggest that the problem lies not with AI but with companies that have lacked new ideas for years and are now using AI as a convenient scapegoat.
