Cuba's Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, has stated that Cuba is open to engaging in serious and responsible dialogue with the United States, provided it is based on mutual respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs and political, economic, and social systems. According to RTHK, Rodriguez made these remarks during the CELAC-Africa High-Level Forum held in Bogota, Colombia, over the weekend.
Rodriguez highlighted the systemic challenges Cuba continues to face due to its colonial history and the U.S.-led international financial system. He criticized the resurgence of overt imperialist actions in the international community, describing the U.S. policy of 'peace through strength' as a new form of interference, threats, and use of force.
The Cuban Foreign Minister emphasized Cuba's commitment to defending its national sovereignty and opposed recent U.S. measures targeting Cuba's energy supply. He asserted that the U.S. attempts to exacerbate economic difficulties to force Cuba to relinquish its sovereignty and independence would not succeed.
