Iran's ambassador to India stated on Monday that Indian oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz have not paid any transit fees to Iran. According to Odaily, this statement comes after U.S. President Donald Trump vowed to prevent ships that pay Iran from passing through the strait.
"You can ask the Indian government if we have charged any fees so far," said Iran's Ambassador to India, Mohammad Fathali, during a press conference at the Iranian embassy. "In these challenging times, we maintain good relations. We believe Iran and India share common interests and a common destiny," he added.
Since the outbreak of the Iran conflict, Iran has effectively blocked this strategic waterway. India has repeatedly denied making any payments, stating that 15 Indian-flagged vessels remain stranded in the Persian Gulf.
