On April 19, Aave Guardian initiated an emergency freeze on rsETH and wrsETH markets across all deployments following a warning about a potential vulnerability. According to BlockBeats, all Aave liquidity pools remain secure and operational, with the incident affecting only the rsETH asset itself, not stemming from any flaw in the Aave protocol. The root cause is currently under investigation by KelpDAO, LayerZero, and other teams, with Aave collaborating closely.
In Aave V3, the Guardian has frozen rsETH and wrsETH markets in all deployments. This measure prevents new deposits and borrowing using rsETH as collateral, while existing positions remain unaffected.
In Aave V4, the protocol's security committee has implemented similar protective measures, disabling new supply and borrowing operations related to rsETH. The configuration updates have been executed through Aave Core Hub and Kelp E Spoke.
