IEA Reports Continued Tightness in Global Natural Gas Supply Post-2026

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has indicated that the global natural gas market will continue to experience supply constraints beyond this year due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and damage to regional infrastructure. According to Jin10, the IEA released a report on Friday stating that the war has delayed the anticipated surplus in liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply, despite new capacity coming online. The impact of this capacity expansion, primarily driven by the United States, has been postponed by "at least two years." The IEA noted that the combined effect of reduced supply and slowed capacity growth in the short term could result in a total LNG supply gap of approximately 120 billion cubic meters between 2026 and 2030. This estimate takes into account the delay in Qatar's North Field East expansion project.
