According to CNBC, Trivariate Research founder Adam Parker screened for stocks with at least 1% gross margin contraction projected for the next fiscal year and found several megacap technology names and other well-known companies. Parker said firms that have seen more than 100 basis points of gross margin contraction have underperformed their industry group average by more than 15% over the last year, the worst showing for the group in about 25 years. He also said Apple could see a 1.4% decline in margins, Oracle's margins could fall by more than 6%, and Altria Group's margin could shrink by more than 14%. The article said Apple CEO Tim Cook is stepping down from the role on Monday after 15 years, Oracle is expected to report earnings in mid September, and Apple shares have risen more than 16% in 2026 while Oracle has dropped more than 23% and Altria has gained almost 20% this year.
