SEC Proposes Rule Update to Include Blockchain and Tokenized Securities

Fox Business crypto reporter Eleanor Terrett said the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has unveiled another crypto-related rule proposal. According to Odaily, the proposal would update decades-old transfer agent rules to include blockchain technology and tokenized securities. The proposal would allow transfer agents, which maintain records of securities ownership, to use blockchain as an official record. It would also require firms to report the number of tokenized securities they service and the blockchain platforms they use.
