Kalshi has submitted an application to regulators to launch perpetual contracts based on foreign exchange and interest rates, according to Andy Ross, the company’s head of institutional business. According to Foresight News, the filing was made on Monday and had not appeared in the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s public records system by Tuesday afternoon.
The CFTC approved Kalshi’s bitcoin perpetual contracts in May, after which the platform introduced ETH and XRP perpetual contracts. Kalshi has since expanded perpetual contracts beyond crypto, filing applications in July for gold, silver and platinum perpetual contracts, and on August 18 for U.S. large-cap stock index and copper perpetual contracts. Ross said Kalshi wants to bring stocks, commodities, crypto, fixed income and interest rates into a single trading interface. The platform’s market count has risen from about 4,000 to around 10,000, with activity spreading beyond a few popular markets.
