According to the BBC, the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has docked in Thailand after spending a record 250 days at sea without a port stop, giving its nearly 5,000 crew members a break. The ship is near Pattaya, where local businesses hope the arrival of thousands of U.S. sailors will lift spending after the Iran war hurt tourism and consumer demand. The carrier left San Diego last November for a six-month Pacific and South China Sea deployment, but was diverted to the Gulf after U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran began in late February. The U.S. Navy said working conditions on board had been tough, while Thai authorities have restricted access to some nightlife areas, deployed hundreds of police officers and warned businesses not to overcharge American visitors.
