Art Blocks Acquires NFT Marketplace Sansa in Strategic Move

According to Decrypt, digital art company Art Blocks has acquired NFT marketplace Sansa in a strategic move to expand its ecosystem and establish a home for generative art. Art Blocks founder and CEO Erick Calderon stated that the acquisition aims to broaden the ways creators can release within the Art Blocks ecosystem and provide a more cohesive experience for collectors. Founded in November 2022, Sansa initially focused on generative art and Art Blocks but has since expanded to cover a wide range of digital art, artists, and galleries. Over 1,300 artworks have been purchased on the platform, with sales totaling over $2.2 million. Art Blocks, founded by Erick 'Snowfro' Calderon in 2020, is a generative art company that brings together artists and collectors. In March 2023, Art Blocks launched its own NFT marketplace with enforced creator royalties, and the acquisition of Sansa is the first of many updates planned for 2024.
